Phone Call - Warehouse 13

He was away from the warehouse when his phone rang. It was Carly's number.

That was surprising. He patted the dirt, wiped his hands clean and answered it.

"Hello? Carly?"

"13, can you come home? Merry's missing."

Merry was the youngest girl. She shouldn't be anywhere alone.

He frowned.

"I will be there in ten minutes."

And he was too. He didnt knock but came in from somewhere above. He jumped from the rafters to the office roof, to the deck to the foor in a series of solid moves.

"Carly?"

She called from down the hall.

"13?!"

He was running and got to her.

"Any sign of Merry yet?"

She shook her head. He could tell that she was staying strong for the rest of the kids, but she was shaking ever so slightly.

"None, and we've been searching everywhere."

He frowned.

"Where did you see her last?"

"An hour ago, in the game room."

He nodded.

"And no one saw her leave? When did you first notice she was missing?"

"Ten minutes before I called you."

He nodded.

"So nothjing in the 45 minutes afterwards. Any of the watchers upstairs see her head out?"

She shook her head, biting her lip.

"Nothing."

He frowned.

"And you have checked all the nooks and crannies?"

He started looking, really looking. He was more of a disapearing person than a finding person. But he could do things.

She nodded. She was almost in tears.

"We've checked everywhere. She's just gone."

He gave her a hug.

"Let me see what I can do."

He started by looking at all the doors, anyplace that might oipenup into the realo world. He also checked the room that they were preparing for him.. just in case.

There was nothing in the room being prepared for him, but there was a smudge of blood that he only smelled because his senses were attuned to it. It was a single drop on the floor by a door that headed upstairs.

Upstairs he went, following that drop. Now blood, blood was something he was good at. He followed it carefully but he also made sure no one followed him, telling them to look here and there so he could concentrate and think. They didnt need to know about the blood.

The blood led him all the way to the roof.

So to the roof he went. Once away from prying eyes he disappeared. It was like breathing for him. He eased the door open and went out of the roof, hiunting, not just for the child, but what made her bleed. He didnt trust this. It felt like a trap.

He found the girl's unconsious body tucked away in a place the children wouldn't think to look. But the smell of her blood led him to an air vent that he had to take the cover off to get to her.

He frowned at that and took off the vent, going to the poor little girl. He pulled her out and checked to see how alive she still was, and find out where the blood was coming from.

How did she get in there? It almost looked like someone had hiddne her body.

Merry was close to death, but if gotten to a hospital soon she would be able to live. The blood was coming from the bite wound on her upper arm.

He frowned and looked at the bite.. seeing if it was one of.. his people. He wondered. He picked her up and tried licking the wound, to see if it closed.

He had to get her to a hospital soon. Really soon. He picked her up and carried her downstairs, cloaking to look like the boy, carrying the tiny girl carefully.

"I found her. I am going to the hostpital."

It was one of his, and the wound closed when he licked it. And her pulse was weakening as he spoke. Carly burst into tears when she saw her, nodding.

"Bring her back."
