Playing House (Porter) - Alterations While U Wait

She pulled the truck around and parked outside the back door.  She was humming under her breath, happy.  She pulled her bag from the front seat and went to knock on the door.

Porter opened the door as Raz0r began to knock.

"I already have a copy of this month's 'Watchtower', thank you." He beamed as he stood in the doorway.

She wrinkled her nose at him and stuck out her tongue.

"Well, if you don't want your Christmas present..."

Porter scratched his beard in mock confusion. "That's odd, Witnesses don't celebrate Christmas..."

He smiled at her. "Please, come in."

She stuck her tongue out again.

"Nope, you're helping me haul boxes first."

And she stepped back to the truck, lowered the back, and flipped up the tarp. That....was a lot of boxes. Brown shipping ones.

"Yes, ma'am."

Porter dove in and started shifting boxes into the shop.

"I'm not going to ask, because you won't tell me."

She was shifting just as many boxes.

"Oh yes I will. Because I'm installing it. If I'm going to be spending time here, my paranoid brain says this place needs to be a fortress. And I want to keep you safe, too. Thus, security system fabricated by yours truly."

"That is indeed a precious gift. Peace of mind - plus being treated as a treasure worth protecting. Thank you."

She paused to kiss him gently.

"You're worth it."

Porter stroked her hair tenderly.

"You, madame, are in danger of inculcating in me an ego to match my frame, with such talk."

She smiled.

"It'll match mine, then."

The big man released a hearty guffaw from deep within his gut.

"Well said, my beauty."

She grinned.

"You realize you get to be my ladder, right?"

"You may climb me as often as is necessary."

She giggles. Then She reached into her bag and pulled out two brightly wrapped packages.

"These are for you from Mr. Grant and Ren."

He regarded them curiously. "I see you are not the only holiday elf in Port St. Lucie."

"I suppose I ought to open Ren's first, although I feel guilty I have not procured reciprocity."

She smiled and began opening boxes, discovering what was in what.

"She got something for everybody. It'll be okay."

"Very well." Porter tore at the paper of Ren's gift, with a boyish gleam in his eye.

Inside was an unusual chain with links made of what appears to be steel and obsidian. It's a weighty chain, suited to his size.

"Elegant. Tasteful. Masculine." Porter smiled. "It is as though she knows me already."

"Mr. Grant, on the other hand..."

He snatched up the second gift and ripped into it.

Inside were two copies of The illustrious lives by plutarch. One in the original Greek, and one an English translation. At this point Raz0r came over to peer around his elbow curiously.

"Wow."

Porter chuckled. "It seems Mr. Grant would have me work on my Greek. He wants to learn Spanish, you see."

She chuckled.

"I'll tutor you. Learned Greek for a pair of Gangrel we had in town for a bit."

He beamed. "Most excellent. You'll have me a proper gentleman in no time."

She chuckled.

"Well, I hope you won't be reformed completely."
