Time to pack... (open) - Sunflower Beach

"Do you think I go without liquor? Alex was kind enough to order a case of stuff we can drink. I have 2 bottles in the truck, if you want."

"Please?"
It was such a shallow escape from reality. But, it was sorely needed. And besides, since she slept on the sofa regularly now, the room was already as day proofed as could be. So if they did get drunk there was no worries and they could fall asleep on the sofa.

"I'll be right back, then," she smiled, slipping away from Teddy gently and exiting the house. In a minute, maybe two, Cass was back, coming through the door with two large bottles of ale and (shock of shocks) a sleeve of plastic cups. No need for them to dirty up dishes.

"Here we are," she said as she closed the door behind her and locking it. Cass put the two bottles and the cups onto the table in the living room and shed her jacket, which she hung up. It left her in a very too big for her long sleeved t-shirt and a pair of black stretch pants. Her shoes were at the door. She took the bandanna from her head, too, revealing a very short pixie cut.

"You get the bottle opener and I'll pour?"

Oh, she could do that. Teddy was pro at opening bottles, which meant the first one was open by the time Cass finished her sentence.
"I like the hair" the blond who usually kept her hair quite short herself smile as she sat down on the red sofa, pouring a glass for Cassie as well as one for herself. "Looks bouncy"

"Yeah," she picked up her cup and leaned up against the couch as she sat on the floor. "It's easier to get into the motorcycle helmet this way," she smiled as she took a sip. "Didn't really need to do it tonight, but it's becoming a habit."

"I cut mine right before I was Embraced" she smiled, not so much sipping at her drink as downing half the glass in one go. "Marilyn Monroe was so pretty... I wanted so badly to have her kind of hair. So I cut it without mom knowing" which meant that long hair was kind of out of the question these nights.

Teddy pulled her feet up onto the couch and stared into her cup for a few moments.
"So much bullshit happening all at once.." the blond said after a little while. "Honestly, between being kept out of the Primogen meeting, Jamie not talking to me, having my support withdrawn because I'm not pure blooded enough and some crazy Nos saying my daddy's in town, I'm starting to think I'm on candid camera or something" because it was all too stupid to just be coincidence.

"You're daddy's in town?" She half choked on her own drink. "What Nos? And what the hell does that mean?" Note she wasn't disagreeing with the candid camera assessment...

"It's just bullshit. Malicious, the Harpy of Istanbul, says my Sire's in town" obviously Teddy was sooo convinced of this. "Needless to say? If the candid camera isn't an option, I'll go with conspiracy" that worked just as well.

"Teddy, did I properly welcome you to the nexus?"

Teddy picked up the bottle and topped off Cassie's cup as well as her own before raising hers in a salute.
"To the fucking Nexus" the blond smirked before leaning her head back as she downed the whole cup in one go. No savouring the taste here. No, she was just going for smashed.

"Well, that's one way to do it, I suppose," she said, watching Teddy drink. When her cup was empty, Cass refilled it for her. She opted to take it easy so she could help drunken Teddy later.

"Plenty of time for Vegas now, though, yeah? Short trip and all that."

"Y-yeah..." since she was breaking her promise to Medwyn of always being there when he woke up no matter how you looked at it these nights.
Alcohol, casinos and general blissful forgetfulness sounded good right about now. Had she still been single she probably could've up and leave PSL only to completely drown herself in Vegas at this point. Though, if she had been single, she wouldn't have felt this horrible either. So, meh..
"No taking my credit cards away though this time"

"No way I'm agreeing to that. You'll be in debt up to your eyeballs if I don't cut you off eventually. You really, really don't want that, do you?"

"It's just money. And I got plenty of it" she just didn't use much, the house being a huge exception of course. "Besides, I got a better chance of winning in Vegas than I have of finding whatever prick decided to embrace me, here, in PSL" seriously.

"Do... Do you want my to find out who it is?" She knew it was a sensitive subject.

Teddy just shook her head with a slight smile to her lips.
"The Nos is having fun pulling my leg, Cassie. Whoever the fuck my Sire is, he's not suddenly gonna show up at my doorstep after all these years" seriously. "I don't care who he was or is, or even if it was a he" though all evidence pointed to it being a he if nothing else. "I stopped looking a long time ago. And besides, given the options of candidates he gave me, I'm pretty damn sure he's just bullshitting me for kicks"

She frowned as she nodded, but understood. She wouldn't push it. "Well, then... I don't think he'll show up on your door either. Especially if you're not going to be here."

She didn't seem angry, or frustrated, just resigned and tired, so very tired right now as the sadness was, for the time being, pushed to the back of her mind in favour of, well, anything else really.
"I mean come on" she chuckled, steadily downing her drink at a rate that suggested she was going to skip from slightly intoxicated to smashed pretty easily. "What men have arrived in town over the last couple of months huh? Does any of them strike you as the type?" she almost found it to be a bit funny. Though that might be the alcohol starting to kick in.

"Actually..." A half-second was all it took for her to change her mind in her answer. "No, absolutely not. I don't see it being anyone here. I think you're right, this harpy is pulling your leg to rattle you, I think. I wouldn't pay it any mind at all."

"Don't plan to" there was far too much on her mind already to let the Nosferatu get under her skin too. "What I plan to do, is get out of PSL and keep my head down and.. hope" hope that she would still be allowed to someday be with Medwyn again. Assuming he wanted to... Assuming he wasn't going to turn her away. Because she knew he would chose Jamie over her, and for that she didn't once blame him. In fact, she was grateful for that. It meant that no matter what, he would always have his brother, best friend and his family.

"I'll help you do that. Whatever you want to do, I have your back. You know that, right?" While a part of Cass just wanted to tell her to run, that wasn't fair. She knew Teddy couldn't, for the same reasons Cass couldn't. Which meant that they'd have to stick together.

"I know" the blond smiled at her, and while it was tinted with blue, there was no doubt warmth to that smile. "You've always been a better friend than I deserve. I'm sorry for being such a drag, you know? This isn't me. It doesn't feel like me anyways.." it felt alien... this whole depressed, sad, emotional state she was in.

"In time it will pass." A lot of time, maybe, but it would. "Something just needs to go right for a change. Don't you worry about being a drag, as you say, it's alright," she patted Teddy's knee. "Just have to take it one night at a time to see what the future holds."

So much to say, so many thoughts, so many emotions, most of which would no doubt make her break down in tears.

Down went the cup of alcohol.
"This stuff does taste good" yey distractions!

Cass lifted the bottle and poured Teddy more. No reason to stop the flow of liquor. At least, not yet. "Yeah, it is pretty tasty. But I go through bottles like water most nights. I'll have to get a few bottles to keep in the new place."
