"Needs are needs for a reason, my son. You did not say that you had conquered those desires, but that you thought you had conquered those needs. If it were a desire, it would have been conquered long ago. You cannot conquer a need; by definition, needs are things that are necessary for you."

He shook his head.

'I learned them. I can unlearn them. Or I can learn to appreciate the amazing woman I have, expand what i do with her now, let her fill them."

His brow rose.

"Whatever do you mean? There are only so many ways that you can have a lover, Estaban."

He smiled.

"That isnt what you taught me father. As I remember, imagination and attitude make all the difference. There is not reason why she cannot be all I need. I just have to figure out what you see and take care of it."

He sighed.

"I love her father."

"And I am going to stay with her as long as she will have me."

He shook his head.

"i dont know. i do not think i can know.. till it happens."

"It will be easier for her now, you realize?"

He sighed.

"Because she already left once? I have thought of that."

"She knows that it won't kill her to do so anymore."

He sighed.

"True."

"So, what then?"

he shrugged.

"i die a little inside. I beg for her to come back. i try to keep her happy so it doesnt happen. i become depressed if she doesnt come back and in the end i work my way out of it. that is what happens.

He frowned.

"Sad, really."

He smiled.

"But she is worth it. Completely, not matter how bad she breaks my heart."

He tilted his head.

"Why?"

He thought for a moment, as if examining his heart and trying to figure it out.

"She makes me feel as no one else has. Being with her makes me..joyful, and peaceful, and just.. right. Something in me tells me I can always can count of her, no matter what. I find I am always thinking about her and care for more for her well being than my own."

"Yes. But this was before that. i examined my feelings for her even before I agreed to the blood. In fact i might have loved her a little more purely before. Now.. I worry."

"You worry? Why?"

He shrugged.

"I do not know. Since the blood.. I worry. I never worried before. But now.. it is if I do not .. feel i am good enough. Or cannot keep her. Or do not deserve her. I do not know but it is there."
